I Haven’t Left At All
I saw you gently weeping as you looked through photographs
You paused for just a moment at one that made you laugh.
But as you turned more pages the tears began to flow
You whispered that you missed me but I want you to know;
I softly licked those stinging tears that down your cheeks did fall
I want to help you understand I haven’t left at all.
On those days that you are overcome with sorrow, pain and grief
I rest my head upon your leg to offer some relief.
When you take our walking path I’ve seen you turn around
Because I know you surely heard my paws upon the ground.
At night while you are sleeping I snuggle at your side
You stroke my fur as you touch that place where I used to lie.
You said it’s just your heart playing tricks upon your mind
But rest assured I’m really there, my spirit’s left behind.
I know your heart is hurting; it’s like an open sore
You think my life has ended and you won’t see me anymore.
But for those of us bound tight by love, death is not the curtain call;
It’s really the eternal beginning that waits for us all
So, dear Master as you live your life I patiently await
For us to be together when you pass through Heaven’s gate.
In Loving Memory

I will lend you for a while, a German Shepherd pup, God said,
For you to love him while he lives, and mourn him when he's dead.
Maybe for twelve or fourteen years, or maybe two or three,
But will you, 'till I call him back, take care of him for me.
He'll bring his charms to gladden you and should his stay be brief,
You'll always have his memories as solace for your grief.
I cannot promise he will stay, since all from earth return
But there are lessons taught below I want this pup to learn.
I've looked the whole world over in search of teachers true,
And from the folk that crowd's life's land, well I have chosen you.
Now will you give him all your love, Nor think the labor vain,
Nor hate me when I come to take my Shepherd back again.
I fancied that I heard them say "Dear Lord Thy Will be Done,"
For all the joys this pup will bring, the risk of grief we'll run.
We'll shelter him with tenderness, we'll love him while we may
And for the happiness we've known forever grateful stay.
But should you call him back, much sooner than we've planned,
We'll brave the bitter grief that comes, and try to understand.
If, by our love, we've managed, your wishes to achieve,
In memory of him we loved, to help us while we grieve,
When our faithful friend departs this world of strife,
We'll have yet another German Shepherd and love him all his life.

Wee Bradley's "La La The Mate"
JR was our angel without wings - Taken too soon
Goodbye Gonzo…Gonzy…La La, We miss you heaps
Grant, Marie, Bradley and Eura.
When God had made the earth and sky,
the flowers and the trees,
He then made all the animals
the fish, the birds, and bees.
And when at last He'd finished
not one was quite the same.
He said I'll walk this world of mine
and give each one a name.
And so He traveled far and wide
and everywhere He went,
a little creature followed him
until it's strength was spent.
When all were named upon the Earth
and in the Sky and Sea,
the little creature said, "Dear Lord,
there's no name left for me."
Kindly the Father said to him
"I've left you to the end.
I've turned my own name back to front
and called you DOG, my friend". |

Bradwins Tomboy ("Chelsea")

Chelsea was my second German Shepherd, and a lovely bitch, dark eyes, black coat and a noisy nature. She had a special way of announcing herself to the world.
I trained Chelsea for Obedience for 9 years, she could do everything beautifully except her stays, never did do her stays in the ring. At the age of four we started to train Agility, and she loved that. We went to the first ever dog handling competition in the world for the Masters Games where Chelsea beat forty dogs to win two gold medals in Starters Agility. I was so proud of her. She also won medals at three other Masters Games till I retired her.
She loved to chase rabbits at Teratonga, and was a good "sister" to new puppy Cree. A very patient teacher, she used to come and tell me if Cree was digging holes etc, which was quite often. Chelsea did Agility displays at schools, kindy’s, summer festivals, and old folks homes.
She always led the Santa Parade, and thousands of children would pat her as she wandered past, a wonderful natured dog, and we loved her. We miss you Chelsea Miller, in our hearts forever.

Memories are golden
They say memories are golden,
Well, maybe that is true.
I never wanted memories, I only wanted you.
A million times I needed you,
A million times I cried,
If love alone could have saved you,
You never would have died.
In life I loved you dearly,
In death I love you still.
In my heart you held a place no one could ever fill.
If tears could build a stairway,
And heartache make a lane,
I'd walk the path to heaven,
And bring you back again.
Our family chain is broke,
And nothing seems the same.
But as god calls us one by one,
the chain will link again.

Old Dogs Do Not Die
We have a secret you and I,
That no one else shall know.
For who, but I can see you lie,
Each night, in fireglow?
And who but I can reach my hand
Before we go to bed,
And feel the living warmth of you
And touch your silken head?
And only I walk woodland paths, and see ahead of me,
Your small form racing with the wind,
So young again, and free.
And only I can see you swim
In every brook I pass.
And when I call, no one but I
Can see the bending grass.

When I Grow Weak
If it should be that I grow weak,
And pain should keep my from my sleep.
Then you must do what must be done,
For this last battle cannot be won.
You will be sad I understand,
Don't let your grief than stay your hand.
For this day more than all the rest,
Your love for me must stand the test.
We've had so many happy years,
What is to come holds no fears.
You'd not want me to suffer so,
The time has come please let me go.
Take me where my needs they'll tend,
And please stay with me until the end.
I know in time that you will see,
The kindness that you did for me.
Although my tail its last has waved,
From pain and suffering I have been saved.
Please do not grieve, it must be you,
Who had this painful thing to do.
We've been so close,
We two these years.
Don't let your heart,
Hold back it's tears.

Goodbye, Old Friend...
Looking back, on days gone by,
I think of my dear friend,
and how the days just slipped away...
we thought they’d never end.
yet the time has come to say goodbye,
for just a little while...
and in the days and weeks ahead,
I’ll think of her and smile.
thank you, God, for times we shared,
for all the memories...
the endless laughs and heartfelt tears
forevermore to cease.
Yet in my heart I feel at peace,
just knowing she’s with YOU...
as morning came, she saw Your face,
and her suffering was through.
You called her home to be with You,
releasing her from pain...
just tell my friend that in a while,
I’ll be seeing her again.
